How The Duration is Calculated
The Process
The calculator finds the duration by following these simple steps:
- Calculate Milliseconds: It first calculates the total number of milliseconds between the start and end times.
- Convert to Hours: This millisecond value is then divided by 3,600,000 (the number of milliseconds in one hour) to get the duration in decimal hours.
- Format Results:
- The Decimal Hours value is displayed directly.
- The Hours & Minutes value is found by taking the whole number for hours and multiplying the fractional part by 60 to get the minutes.
